Lovely Jubbly!

Oops, note to self never again set up a blog, break your laptop, and not get it fixed until some months later..Bad Flick.

Anyhoo, Happy Jubilations!! As brits will know, this weekend is the weekend of Queen Liz II's Diamond Jubilee! Which is one very exciting as only one other British monarch has lasted that long and two an excuse to paint union jacks on your faces, throw extravagant street parties and drink lots of pimms. This weekend has been super busy for me as it has also contained my dear friend Steff's birthday, my finals university ball, and the day festival apple cart in london, which have also been so much fun and not slightly dampened by the rain, drizzle or downpour which has occurred. To add to this busy time I also decided to throw a slightly impromptu jubilee party prior to the ball, which was not only so much fun but also an excellent excuse to dress my garden up in a decor only comparable Geri Halliwell's union jack dress (see old spice girl outfits), bake some mini vanilla cupcakes, and snap a couple of pics to welcome back  my laptop, the end of exams and the beginning of the short but not less dreaded wait till results day.

Confetti Cupcakes!

I think I'm in the clear to post these photos now. Yesterday I made some cupcakes and I posted how badly they'd gone wrong, but I'd be lying if I said they had all gone wrong cos look at these beauties! Unfortunately I couldn't upload these yesterday as they are gifts for my best friends who are currently sitting their 1st finals exam today! It's a very scary time but I thought I'd make it a bit better by turning the idea of sitting our first last exam (EVER) into a bit of a party. For anyone wondering why on earth I was making cakes when there are exams today, my first exam is on Friday (YES 3 more days of revision!).

So here they are I made the cupcake flags and wrote little messages on them to keep up the cheer during revision and decorated the cakes with what I love best, confetti sprinkles (they make me oh so happy!!).

So what do you think, should I be revising (definitely) do you like the confetti theme, and what are your favourite sprinkles/where can I get more?????????????!

Revision is eternal, Baking is divine.

What I should really say is revision feels eternal but let's not be pedantic.

I was doing really well at revising too, until dehydration struck and now I cannot shift this headache and curses if I can't revise I shall at least procrastinate in a fun and filling way!

So I decided to make some vanilla cupcakes. My original plan was to spray them with silver glitter triangles in a sort of geometric print but it didn't really come out right, so I decided to turn them into flags on cupcakes,  real cupcake flags (sometimes I amaze myself/am bigheaded). They had little "keep happy we will eventually graduate" messages on and looked really cute too! Until I accidently smudged the icing. What can I say today was not my baking day. Headaches and careful icing do not mix.

But hey ho, the show exam will go on as my christian housemate Sam (he is also several other things but you'll see why this is important/I thought it was funny NOTE; if you think you're being funny whilst having a headache check with someone else first) has his first exam tomorrow, and he needed a cupcake for his revision to continue. It was in his eyes. So this is the cupcake I made him;

I think it is the perfect mix of wishing him luck for his exam and christian humour.. hope Sam thinks so!!

Oh! Rose Ripple Macaroons

After much deliberation mainly over what to call a blog about cake, other craft, but mostly cake. I finally decided on a name. Don't get me wrong some friends gave me three solid suggestions;
- The Rabid Giblet Diaries
- Eat me, Craft me, Love me baby!
- Beaten not stirred.
But none of them made me feel clean, sane or like a sexy bond girl  really screamed me.

Thought I'd share a couple of photos I took of a bunch of rose ripple macaroons with vanilla or rose buttercream I made for a quick spot of afternoon tea. Unfortunately it rained but I think the macaroons (or macarons) still managed to style it out.

 mmm..time for a midnight macaroon?
